What will your job be like?
The maintenance fitter repairs machines and engineering equipment. Their other duties include:
- Preparing the workplace
- Reading and using technical documentation
- Fault finding and determining the repair procedure
- Making various supporting structures and guards
- Carrying out maintenance and repair work
- Aligning machines, equipment, conveyor and production lines
- Repairing flanged pipe joints and pipeline fittings
- Carrying out routine, intermediate and general overhauls of machines and equipment
- Performing functional tests
- Recording technical data on the progress and results of the work
